About

Hey there, I’m Megan.

A quick summary of me & this blog:

I’m recent women’s college graduate with a major in Political Science. I’ve chosen the life of Public Service for myself, and while it’s hard work, and generally unappreciated, I want to be able to truly help people and affect their lives for the better. Which is why I chose to pursue a path in local/state government. These levels of government, unlike the federal government, are closer to their constituents, and policies here can have a deeper impact on people’s day to day lives.

I am in my fourth year of law school part-time at Atlanta John Marshall Law School and continuing to work full time for the City of Atlanta. I’ll be graduating from law school in May 2018, and will sit for the July 2018 Georgia Bar.

I currently work in the Office of Councilmember Andrea L. Boone, who represents District 10. I used to work for the Honorable Mayor Kasim Reed of Atlanta, and in college, I worked for the former Mayor of Sacramento, the Honorable Kevin Johnson.

The reason I started this blog, was to not only talk about my journey, my career path, my ideas, professional fashion, my politics, but those of the people around me. So I’ll have guest authors chime in about their lives, jobs, politics, family lives, whatever they’re doing. It’s all about finding balance, I crave it. And I assume most of my friends do too.

More about me:

I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I moved out of my parent’s house when I was 17 to go to a teeny tiny college. I’ll admit it, I moved for a guy. I fell in love with the school, and out of love with him and I’m a better person for it all.

I’m the dog-mom to my sweet baby angel, Patches. I’m in love with him. He’s about a five-year-old Pomeranian rescue, and he’s a big love bug but is not the biggest fan of bath time. He’s been such a blessing in this slightly hectic life I’ve been leading since graduation, he’s been with me every step. unnamed (3)

I struggle with mild cyclothymic depression and am an advocate of therapy. If you’re going through something as well, feel free to reach out to me, I’m always willing to be a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear!

I’m a serial monogamist and incredibly loyal. Sure, this has led to me getting pretty hurt in the past, but it’s making me a better person for my future love.

I’m an only child, and fiercely independent. My mother is my favorite person in the entire world because she’s pretty awesome. She’s my rock and she’s where I get a lot of my strength.

I watch far too much TV. I’m a ginormous fan of the show Friends, I’ve seen every episode about 6 times. I quote it quite often.

I was raised without grandparents, which really really sucks. They all passed away when I was really young. But, because of that, I believe they are always with me, guiding and helping me. And I think it would be awesome to have a reading done by the Long Island Medium.

I reject all Atlanta sports. I’m not a huge sports fan, but when I am it’s Bay Area or nothing! Giants & Niners, those are my guys.

Don’t be afraid to talk to me, I love people. I’m always available.
